Milt Briggs: Calendar

If past shows are followed you are in for an evening of fine music and entertainment with Milt and his friends!

Enjoyable gig at the Ben and Jerry's Pavillion. There was a great sound man who assisted me in setting up on stage after the fiddle contest. Friends Gary & Toni Braman with their grandson and Frank McGovern came to hear my music. Frank helped me carry my equipment back to my car. Wonderful local art and agricultural events.

A very windy day in Markleeville. It was necessary to tie down my painted bird display and use clothes pins to tether my music to my keyboard. I was privileged to be the first to play in the new pavillion in the park next to the library. I performed 3 musical stories and included music for creative movement at the end of the program as the wind died down. The kids were very free and spontaneously made up their own ways of moving like grasshoppers, swans, frogs, bunnies, butterflies, to the delight of parents sitting on chairs and on blankets on the grass. This event arranged by Bessie Platten and was sponsored by Friends of the Alpine Co. Library. Craft activities were available for the families and children. I enjoyed the Indian Tacos, a local favorite cuisine available at the family event.

I forgot my sustain pedal when packing for this return gig. I was glad they had a fine grand piano that I could use for some tunes.
It was an effort to create a smooth sound on my keyboard without the sustain, but I got by OK and used my guitar to fill in with some tunes I hadn't planned on. Nice facility. Beautiful view.

The acoustics are always good here. I performed for an hour. I was able to visit with and perform for one of my colleagues from San Juan Schools, Doris Heckert, who was in the audience. Time marches on. I had on a tie that was 30 years old. I was wearing that tie to work when Doris and I both worked in the speech department.

It was a very relaxed interview with Jerry (Hippie). He said to make myself feel as much at home as I would in my living room and he meant that. We discussed my history as a whistler and he played selected tunes from one of my CDs.

This was the 4th Annual Sorrel Festival. Joe Fujioka played his wonderful style of cocktail piano with those fat chords playing lots of 10ths with great standards.
Stuart Walthall and his brother Gordon accompanied by Bruce Hutton on drums gave us some super jazz sounds with guitar, keybaord, and vocals. I played my usual concert after dinner and we had a really enjoyable day and evening.

I was greeted with a "remember me?" As I began to set up near the grand piano. This man bought a CD from me 3 years prior when I came to do a concert. There is so much nostalgia that whistling brings to elder people who have a member of their family or friend who whistled.

I've been performing at Aldersons for over 20 years. I miss residents who pass on. One of my favorites was Lorena, whom I will especially miss. It's good from me to remember that I brought much happiness to her as she cheered on my concerts.
